The wdpw dashboard can show a restaurant the reviews its guests leave on Google Business Profile and Tripadvisor. Those reviews — and the names and photos shown with them — are written by other people and reach us from those platforms. This page is our notice and takedown procedure for that content: who may report it, what to send, where to send it, and what we do next.
It covers what wdpw displays. It does not cover what Google and Tripadvisor publish themselves; to have a review taken down at the source, see section 8.
1. What this page covers
Reviews appear in wdpw only where a restaurant has connected its own listing, and only inside that restaurant’s dashboard. They are shown to the owner, managers and staff of that restaurant so they can read and answer them. They are not published on wdpo.app, and one restaurant never sees another’s.
What is displayed is the platform’s own content: the star rating, the review text, the reviewer’s name and profile photo where the platform provides them, the date, the author’s location where Tripadvisor provides it, and any reply the owner has published.
2. Where the reviews come from
2.1 Google Business Profile
A restaurant connects its own Google account and picks the listing for each branch. We then sync that listing’s reviews and store them for that restaurant: the rating, the review text, the reviewer’s name and profile photo when Google supplies them, the dates Google reports, a link back to the review, and any reply. Storing them is what lets staff filter, triage and answer from one screen.
The stored copy belongs to that one restaurant. When a restaurant disconnects Google, the Google reviews we hold for it are deleted with the connection.
2.2 Tripadvisor
Tripadvisor reviews are fetched liveeach time the panel is opened, and are not stored. We keep the listing’s location id and the listing URL, and nothing else: review text, traveler names, author locations, ratings and owner responses are displayed as they arrive and are never written to our database, cached, or kept in a log line. A review that comes down at Tripadvisor is gone from wdpw the next time the panel is opened.
2.3 Names and photos
Reviewer names and profile photos are shown as the platforms give them to us. We do not add to them, do not match them against anything else, and do not build a profile from them. How wdpw handles personal data generally is set out in the Privacy Policy.
3. Who can report content
- the person who wrote a review, or anyone named, pictured or described in one;
- Google or Tripadvisor;
- a rights holder, or an agent acting for one, where a review infringes copyright, a trademark, or another right;
- the restaurant the listing belongs to.
You do not need a wdpw account to report content, and you do not have to go through the restaurant first.
4. What to include in a report
- Where it is. The Tripadvisor listing URL or the link to the Google review, and the restaurant and branch if you know them. A screenshot of the wdpw screen works too.
- Which review.The name shown on it, its date, and the first line of its text — enough for us to find one review among many.
- Why.What is wrong with it: it is your review and you deleted it, it names or pictures you, it infringes a right you hold, it breaks the platform’s own content policy, or a court has ordered it down.
- Who you are. Your name, the capacity you are writing in (the reviewer, a rights holder, an agent, the platform), and an email address we can answer.
Please confirm that what you tell us is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and send what we need to act on it — not a file of supporting documents nobody asked for.
5. Where to send a report
Email [email protected] with “Content notice” in the subject line. If you have already raised it with [email protected], it will be passed on — you do not need to send it twice.
We answer within 5 business days of receiving a report. If we need something more from you to identify the review, we will ask for it in that reply.
6. What we do with a report
We look at the review as it is displayed and at what you have told us. Where the content should not be displayed, we take it out of what wdpw shows:
- Google content is removed from the display, and the copy we hold is deleted.
- Tripadvisor contenthas no stored copy to delete, so we stop displaying the review — or the whole listing, where that is what it takes.
We write back to tell you what we did. Where the law or a platform’s terms require a complaint to reach the platform as well, we forward it: a legal complaint about Tripadvisor content is sent on to Tripadvisor at [email protected].
A restaurant can also disconnect Google, or unlink a Tripadvisor listing, at any time from its own settings, which stops the display for that restaurant.
7. Notices from Tripadvisor and Google
A notice from Tripadvisor or Google is actioned on receipt — we do not weigh it up first. When Tripadvisor gives notice that content must come down, it comes out of our display. The same applies to Google.
8. Removing a review from Google or Tripadvisor
wdpw displays a platform’s content; it is not where the review lives. Removing it here does not remove it from Google or Tripadvisor, where it stays public. To take it down at the source, use that platform’s own process — Google’s for a Google review, Tripadvisor’s for a Tripadvisor one.
Tripadvisor content follows on its own: nothing is stored, so once it is gone there it is gone here. A Google review you delete at Google may still sit in the copy we hold for the restaurant — tell us and we will delete it.
